New UTMB Brand Identity Approved

The Health Affairs Committee of the UT Board of Regents today approved UTMB’s new logo and theme line. This marks a momentous first step in redefining how we view our university and how the communities we serve view us. Plans are underway for an institutional celebration to launch the new UTMB logo and identity system so stay tuned for details. In the meantime, you may see our new logo and theme line start to appear across campus as we begin to implement our new brand.

Women's Health Simulation Workshop

The UTMB Health Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) and the Obstetrics Gynecology Student Society (OGSS) will be hosting a Women's Health Workshop for Medical Students on Thursday, February 12th, 2026 from 5:30pm-7:30pm.

Medical Student Education Program

Family medicine offers courses for undergraduate medical students throughout all four years of the medical curriculum. Family Medicine & Community Health faculty also serve as examiners in the fourth-year Integrative Curriculum Evaluation Exercise (ICEE), as advisors for both individual students and for student groups, and on various course committees. Read more...

Residency Training Program

The UTMB Health Family Medicine & Community Health Residency Program was one of the first family medicine residency programs in the state of Texas, and has trained more than 400 physicians since accepting its first residents in 1971. Butterfly Sonogram Workshop

Research Program

Research in the UTMB Health Department of Family Medicine & Community Health focuses on four broad research areas that reflect the interests of the faculty and principles of Family Medicine. Each year, one of the family medicine residency programs in the area hosts a  Regional Family Medicine Research Symposium, with presentations by residents and fellows from the Galveston-Houston area family medicine residency programs. Read more...
