Regional Family Medicine Research Symposium



Invited Programs

The Regional Family Medicine Research Symposium is an annual event supported by Galveston-Houston area family medicine residency programs, including:

  • Baylor College of Medicine
  • Lone Star Family Health Residency - Conroe
  • Memorial Hermann Health System
  • Methodist Hospital
  • University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
  • University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston

Residents and fellows are invited to present posters and/or oral presentations on clinical research, evidence-based reviews, quality improvement projects, case reports, community projects, educational/curriculum development or medical ethics/history/humanities.   

Registration

Registration deadline for the 2024 Symposium will be May 1, 2024.  Payment will be due by May 13, 2024 in the form of (1) check for all registrants from your program. Invoices will be submitted to each program by May 3rd. IMPORTANT: If you do not already have a CME login, you will need to click on the registration link below.  You will then "Create an Account".  Once the account has been created, you will have to come back to this link to finish your symposium registration.

Cost

The cost for the 2024 Regional Family Medicine Residency Symposium will be $55/participant (Participants are considered anyone in attendance: students, residents, fellows, faculty and staff).  This is an in-person symposium, there will not be a virtual attendance option. There is no additional charge for CME Credits.



Call for Abstracts

Family Medicine residents from the invited programs are encouraged to submit abstracts for poster presentations. Residents who have submitted outstanding abstract submissions may be invited to give an oral presentation.  You will receive notification of oral presentation by April 22, 2024. 

The call for abstracts for the 2024 Regional Family Medicine Research Symposium is now open. All abstracts are due April 5, 2024 by 5:00pm. Dealine Extended to Noon on Thursday April 11, 2024  *If you are a participating program, please click on the link below for abstract submission.  If you are a program in Texas and would like to be considered for participation next year, please email family.medicine@utmb.edu.  




The symposium will be held at the UTMB Health Education Center at 301 11st., Suite 1.200 in Galveston Texas 77550.

You will park in the flat lot in the 1200 Block of Mechanic St. in Galveston Texas.  Do not park in the parking garage.  The flat lot across from the parking garage will have the gate arms open.  You will then walk east directly across the street to the UTMB Health Education Center (HEC)
