A PERSONAL NOTE FROM DR. RADFORD
" Greetings!
I am Zahria Radford. I was born and raised in the Houston, Texas area- particularly Pearland, TX. I attended Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama where I received my Bachelors in Biology. From there, I attended Meharry Medical Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee where I earned my Doctorate in Medicine. After completing a 1 year general surgery preliminary residency in Myrtle Beach at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, I returned back to Texas to join the family medicine program here at UTMB! I chose to train in family medicine because it allows me to form long term relationships with my patients and address all aspects of their medical care. I have always been particularly interested in women’s health, especially in combating health inequalities that affect black and brown women. I plan to become an outpatient-focused PCP, particularly working to serve women across the greater Houston area and further increase access to women’s healthcare.
In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my husband, whether going on neighborhood walks, weightlifting, or trying new restaurants. I also enjoy having Sunday dinners with my family, most of whom live in Houston. Additionally, I have 2 cats, Bella and Chani, whom I adore. I look forward to continuing my training here at UTMB and serving the Galveston area! "
