A PERSONAL NOTE FROM DR. GHOZAYEL
Hello! I am Sami Ghozayel. I am originally from Melrose, Massachusetts, a suburb right outside of Boston. I always imagined myself staying close to home, but medical school took me to Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Looking for another change, I decided to come to Texas for my residency training.
When researching residency programs, I was looking for a large academic center which still had a tight-knit feel. I had the fortune of visiting UTMB for their open house and knew it would be a good fit after meeting the faculty, residents and staff. One of my several areas of interest is learning Spanish to better connect with patients. UTMB offers a medical Spanish track which I am proud to be a part of. Additionally, my pursuit of family medicine was to help bring healthcare to underserved communities and foster longitudinal care with patients. UTMB has given me the opportunity to achieve that.
Despite being away from Boston for several years, I remain an avid Boston sports fan. I also enjoy exercise, reading, being outdoors, cooking and museums.
