Resident Physician

Dr. Asana joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2023. She is a resident physician in training at the Family Medicine Clinic – Island East. Dr. Asana earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.  Dr. Asana earned her Doctorate of Medicine from St. George's University School of Medicine in True Blue Grenada.

Dr. Asana is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Dr. Asana's academic and clinical interests include preventive medicine, integrative medicine, dermatology and patient advocacy.

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM DR. ASANA

Greetings! My name is Juliette Asana. I am originally from Cameroon, Africa but moved to Katy, Texas in 2004 and Texas has been home ever since.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX and earned my Doctor of Medicine from St, George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. I have traveled across the country for my clinical rotations in different hospitals and outpatient settings and have had the privilege of taking care of patients from diverse backgrounds and cultures, mainly underserved communities.

Coming from Cameroon, the importance of quality primary care and health outcomes in the community is near and dear to my heart. I have a keen interest in compassionate, understanding care for patients who may feel underserved. I am happy to be at UTMB Health in Galveston and be a part of this Family Medicine program. Not only am I close to my fiancé and my family, I also get the support of faculty, staff and co-residents, and I get to be trained at a world renowned institution exposed to a diverse variety of patients and pathologies.

I have a special interest in dermatology and preventative medicine and outside of medicine, I love Pilates, trying new food, spending time with my fiancé and family, and traveling with my friends.
