Jayshree Thomas, DO
Resident Physician
Dr. Thomas joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2021. She is a resident physician in training at the Family Medicine Clinic – Dickinson. Dr. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a minor in Biology from the University of Texas in Austin. Dr. Thomas earned her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Thomas is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Dr. Thomas’ academic and clinical interests include Sports Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and Global Health. Dr. Thomas has a special interest in the care of athletes and developing sustainable solutions for communities without healthcare access.
A PERSONAL NOTE FROM DR. THOMAS
Hello! My name is Jayshree, but most know me as Jay. Houston born and California raised, but my educational pursuits and background in cultural anthropology have allowed me to call several places home thus far- Texas, Kentucky, Austria, most of South/Southeast Asia, Central America, and Africa.
As the saying goes- “you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the girl.” I’m thrilled to continue my residency training in Family Medicine at UTMB. There is something incredibly special about the lifelong relationships you build with patients and their families through assuming the role as their PCP. Additionally, being an athlete most of my life (basketball, distance running, pole vaulting), I chose this program for its specialized focus in sports medicine as the training aligns with my future practice goals.
You can catch me outside of clinic at a local spin class, planning my next hiking adventure with my sweet Doberman (8/63 National Parks to date), sharing my South Asian culture on stage through Bollywood choreography, or teaching my houseplants how to remain resilient. Sharing meals is also my love language.
