A PERSONAL NOTE FROM DR. ECHETA
Howdy! I’m Ashley
Echeta. So kind of you to stop by. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I’m
an Aggie (whoop!) who then went off to med school in the Caribbean, and now
finding myself on another island. So, what can I say, Island girl 4 life. But
don’t be fooled, it’s still team Nigeria ‘round here.
I chose UTMB as my #1
because of their tracks, particularly sports medicine. I’d love to become a
team sports medicine physician and since fellowship applications have gotten
more competitive, I knew completing the track would assist me heavily (pun intended).
I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to return closer to home while serving
Galveston and the surrounding communities. I’m very excited to become a family
trained physician. I’ve seen how they are often the first point in contact in
healthcare, helping people maintain overall health much like a quarterback who
is the first to touch a live ball. I know that I will leave equipped to
handle/coordinate my future patients’ medical needs on top of providing sports
medical care.
Outside of medicine, I
love to sleep, watch whatever is hot on TV, recreate cooking videos/reels, send
TikTok videos, and do fitness.
