Ariana Lerma, DO

Resident Physician

Dr. Lerma joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2022. She is a resident physician in training at the Family Medicine Clinic – Island East. Dr. Lerma earned a Bachelor of Science in human development and family sciences in early childhood development from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Lerma earned her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine in San Antonio, Texas. 

Dr. Lerma is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Dr. Lerma's academic and clinical interests include integrative medicine and global health.

¡Hola, amigos!

My name is Ariana Lerma, and I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas (#GoSpursGo!). I love to cook with my fiancé, go hiking with my cats, and spend time with my friends and family. I also speak English and Spanish fluently!

Being a Texas gal at heart I was beyond thrilled to find out that I would continue my training in my home state, and was even more ecstatic to find out I matched at UTMB! Throughout my life I have always known my calling revolved around caring for those in need. Exposed to medicine at a young age and seeing the positive impact you can make in people’s lives solidified my pursuit for medicine. I chose the path of Family Medicine because I believe it will allow me to make the biggest impact in the community and people’s lives. Additionally, I love how Family Medicine not only encompasses all areas of medicine but how it goes beyond this scope & focuses on establishing a life-long relationship with patients and their growing families that goes across multiple generations.

I look forward for the years to come here during my training, and especially treating my new community!
