A PERSONAL NOTE FROM DR. SHUAIB
I am a first generation Pakistani-American who grew up in Houston. I am passionate about the human condition and where it intersects with health. I believe that diet, exercise, and an active social life are the foundation of good health.
I believe modern society poses significant challenges to maintaining our health. The demands from our fast-paced society leads to high stress and poor sleeping habits. Processed foods and fast food options are more accessible than nutritious meals. Long hours sitting at desks or in front of screens contribute to our sedentary lifestyles. Social media and constant connectivity gives us feelings of isolation, anxiety, and unrealistic comparisons. All these factors and modern economic pressures often cause us to neglect self-care.
My philosophy is that preventative medicine is the most effective way to reduce health problems. My focus is stopping diseases before they start. I like to tackle health conditions not only with medicine, but with lifestyle changes, and early screening. My favorite part of practicing medicine is developing long term relationships with my patients.
Apart from medicine, I enjoy photography, weightlifting, and hiking/running. I am also a car enthusiast, and love working on cars and going on adventures. I mostly look forward to spending time with family, friends, and my dog, Astro. In the future, I plan on practicing medicine in my hometown of Houston.
