We would like to thank all the participants of the 2024 Regional Residency Research Symposium: The faculty, residents and staff of Memorial Hermann; Methodist; Baylor; UT Health- Houston; and our program, UTMB Health. Saturday, May 18th 2024 marked the 7th collaboration among regional Family Medicine Residency Programs where residents presented their scholarly works in the form of Case Reports, Evidence-Based Reviews, Quality Improvement Projects or Original Research. The day started out with breakfast and introductions by our Chair, Kendall M. Campbell, MD. Next was a guest speaker, UTMB Health Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, Joan Richardson, MD who spoke on “Is Medicine a Calling”. The Keynote Address was presented by UTMB Health Senior Associate Dean of the John Sealy School of Medicine, Jeffrey Susman, MD, who offered his thoughts on research in Family Medicine in his talk entitled, Family Medicine: Oxymoron, Panacea or Phoenix.
The quality of both the oral presentations and the poster presentations was excellent and I particularly enjoyed the questions and discussions they elicited. Below please find the awardees for each of the categories.
