Congratulations to Jorge Duchicela, MD, FAAFP who received the distinction of becoming the 2017-2018 Texas Family Physician of the Year by the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Duchicela is an alumni of the UTMB Health Family Medicine Residency Program Class of 1988. Dr. Duchicela is a role model for any aspiring or existing family physician and is the epitome of a country doc serving his rural community and beyond. He is a teacher, a community benefactor, an advocate for rural primary care practices in Texas and is loved by his patients, his practice and all students who he takes under his wing.
