The Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP) announced the 2017 winners of its Texas FMIG Program of Excellence Award in August 2017. The UTMB Health Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) was awarded first place. The award includes a cash prize to support students' travel to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Students.
