Another Great Primary Care Procedures Workshop

The UTMB Health Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) along Family Medicine faculty, residents and staff hosted the 6th Annual Primary Care Procedures at the Primary Care Pavilion (PCP2) Thursday evening, October 6th from 5:30 until 9pm. Over 85 medical students, ranging from 1st years to 4th years, gathered to experience procedures family physicians perform in their daily practice. This hands-on workshop included procedures such as splinting, endometrial biopsies, dermatology procedures, child birth, circumcision, suturing and knot tying along with joint injections and colposcopy.  

The evening also included a fajita dinner before the workshop and drawings for prizes at the end of the evening, with the grand prize drawing winning an iPad Mini.   

This annual event is coordinated by the Family Medicine Interest Group and mentored by Family Medicine faculty member, Jennifer Raley, MD.  If you didn't get to experience this years event, look for it again next October and keep you eye out for the the PCP light which is offered in the spring.
