The UTMB Health Department of Family Medicine and the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) hosted the Fourth Annual Primary Care Procedures at the Primary Care Pavilion workshop (PCP2 ) for medical students on October 9, 2014 at the Primary Care Pavilion on the second floor from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm.

"Every year there is a limited number of slots for this much sought after event.  After opening the registration the slots filled up crazy fast.  The FMIG officers had the unfortunate task of having to let some students know that they were on a waiting list since the response was so huge, says Julie McKee, MD"

Students who attended the workshop were able to practice and learn proper techniques on surgical procedures, women's health procedures, dermatological procedures, orthopedic procedures and many more including the newly offered procedure of circumcision.  All procedure training was offered by a team of family medicine faculty along with first, second and third year family medicine residents.

Julie McKee, MD serves as the faculty mentor to the Family Medicine Interest Group and, with the group's members, organized this event. This year the PCP2 event was lead by Family Medicine faculty member, Dr. Myers Hurt, III.  Dr. McKee expresses her deepest gratitude to all of the faculty, staff and FMIG officers and members who made this annual event such a success.
