The UTMB Health Department of Family Medicine is pleased to share that Alyssa Shell, a fourth-year medical student and MD/PhD candidate, has been awarded the Pisacano Leadership Foundation's scholarship for 2014. Scholars are chosen from applicants from U.S. medical schools, and must be fourth-year medical students pursuing a residency in family medicine. A maximum of five new scholars receive awards each year, with a maximum scholarship amount of up to $28,000.

The Pisacano Scholars Leadership Program provides educational programs, leadership training, and funding for its scholars. Ms. Shell is only the second UTMB Health student to have received this prestigious honor in its twenty year history.
