UTMB Health Family Medicine hosted Evelyn Granieri, MD, MPH, MSEd for Grand Rounds

On June 19, 2014 UTMB Health's Department of Family Medicine hosted Evelyn Granieri, MD, MPH, MSEd, for three lectures.  Dr. Granieri is Chief of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Aging in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. 

Early in the day Dr. Granieri spoke to the members, staff and visitors of the UTMB Health Osher LIfe Learning Institute (OLLI) directed by Michelle Sierpina at the Galveston Island Community Center on Broadway. 

Dr. Granieri then presented an interactive resident didactic lecture providing insight to Family Medicine residents, and guests, utilizing clinic stories of older adults.  She broke down all of the areas of concern a physician has when it comes to caring for the elderly offering examples of implementing this thought and process into practice.

Finally, Dr. Granieri spoke to faculty, residents and community members for a Grand Rounds Lecture titled "Caring for the Vulnerable Elderly" at the Primary Care Pavilion in the evening.
