UTMB Health's chapter of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) has been keeping a busy schedule this fall.

This fall they co-hosted the annual Breakfast with the American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) before the first year medical students took their Gross Anatomy & Radiology (GAR) midterm exam.

UTMB Health AMSA members joined in a AMSA-sponsored panel at the University of Houston for college students considering attending medical school. The panel included medical students and residents from schools including UTMB Health, UT Houston, and Baylor.

UTMB Health AMSA also recently hosted an interactive workshop with UTMB Health occupational therapy students on the integration of occupational therapy and medicine in health care.

The group has ambitious plans for the rest of the 2013-2014 year. Upcoming events include an AMSA night at the St. Vincent's House Free Clinic, a World AIDS Day fundraiser, a Bone Marrow Registry Drive, and a blood drive. In February 2014, AMSA members will be serving as judges for the Galveston County Science and Engineering Fair. The group will also assist the UTMB Gay-Straight Alliance in its production of the Vagina Monologues in 2014.
