The UTMB Health Department of Family Medicine asks you to join us in congratulating Hanan Hussein, MD and Anika Bell-Gray, MD for being named one on of the Texas Super Doctors Rising Stars. Physicians honored as Rising Stars represent the top 2.5% of Texas physicians who have been practicing for approximately ten years or less.

"Super Doctors" were selected by their peers and represent the physicians who are trusted and sought out by colleagues for medical care. More than 40,000 medical professionals were asked to nominate one or more doctors based on one question, “If you needed medical care, which doctor would you choose?”

“This is a tremendous honor, especially when it comes from your peers,” said UTMB President Dr. David L. Callender. “The recognition of these physicians who are still early in their careers is a testament to their commitment to truly improve the lives of their patients through the exemplary care they provide every day.”

Dr. Hussein is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, and serves as the Medical Director for UTMB Health's Family Medicine Clinic – Island East, as well as the UTMB Student Health Clinic. Dr. Bell-Gray is a family physician at the UTMB Health Adult Primary and Specialty Care Clinic in Texas City, Texas. Both Dr. Hussein and Dr. Bell-Gray are alumni of the UTMB Health Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Bell-Gray is also an alumnus of the UTMB Health School of Medicine.
