Dr. Jerry Kruse to Present Grand Rounds on June 6

The UTMB Health Department of Family Medicine is pleased to announce that Jerry E. Kruse, MD, MSPH will be presenting a Family Medicine Grand Rounds on June 6, 2013. Dr. Kruse is CEO of Southern Illinois University Healthcare (SIU HealthCare) and is President of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM). He is also Executive Associate Dean of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIU-SOM) and a tenured professor in their Department of Family & Community Medicine.

The Family Medicine Grand Rounds is supported by the Allan C. Shields Lectureship in Family Medicine.

In addition to his roles in helping to lead SIU, Dr. Kruse has been active in a number of national organizations, including serving on the Federal Council on Graduate Medical Education (COGME), on the board of the Association of Departments of Family Medicine (ADFM), and of course, on the board of and as current president of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM).  

Dr. Kruse is considered an authority on healthcare systems and ways of knowing, having presented on these topics to many national and international audiences. For the UTMB Health Family Medicine Grand Rounds he will be giving a talk entitled "Healthcare Reform: The Triumph of Reason Over Power".

The Family Medicine Grand Rounds will begin at 5:30pm on Thursday, June 6, 2013 in the 2.268 conference room on the second floor of the Primary Care Pavilion. The event is open to UTMB Health faculty, residents, and students. Light refreshments will be served at a reception to follow the event. Attendees may park in the Primary Care Pavilion parking lot, and should plan to enter the building through Entrance A.
