Eisenberg Brings Taste of Healthy Kitchens to Galveston Event

Apr 11, 2013, 16:17 PM by Julia Essex

David M. Eisenberg, MD presented Healthy Kitchens, Healthy Lives suggesting that one way to combat the rising perils of obesity, diabetes, and inactivity is to return to preparing meals at home. To emphasize his point, Dr. Eisenberg demonstrated preparing a salad of whole wheat couscous with herbs, a delicious and healthy dish.

More than 90 people attended the event at the Island Community Center, and stayed to enjoy the luncheon following the demonstration and sample the results.

This event was sponsored by the Integrative Medicine Lectureship in Nutrition, with funding from the W.D. and Laura Nell Nicholson Lecture Series, from the Charles H. and Mary Campbell Integrative Medicine Fund, and from the Jesse B. Heath Lectureship in Family Medicine. Additional support was provided by UTMB Health's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and the Department of Family Medicine.

Later that evening Dr. Eisenberg also gave a "grand rounds" presentation for UTMB Health faculty and residents in the Department of Family Medicine.
