Two posters presented by Department of Family Medicine residents won honors at the Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP) Annual Session and Scientific Assembly on July 13, 2012 in Austin, Texas.
Current third-year resident, Jagroop Singh, MD, and recent resident alumni Rory Bradt, DO, Branka Kosarac, MD, Jose Mier y Teran, MD, Samantha Malave, MD, Maria Mejia, MD, and Valeska Wells, DO were awarded first place in the Primary Research, Resident category for their poster entitled "Evaluating the Effectiveness of Nutritional Handouts versus a Nutritional Lecture on Knowledge of Healthy Eating Habits."
Rechelle Asirot, MD, also a third-year resident, was awarded second place in the Evidence-based Review, Resident category for his poster, "Sunscreens and Duration of Sun Exposure: an Evidence-based Review".
