On Sunday, October 30, 2011, Dr. Tricia Elliott got up and went to church, but on this Sunday she went to perform free screening mammograms as part of the Sunday Screening Mammogram Program.

The Sunday Screening Mammogram Program is a partnership between UTMB Health and the the Ruth Kempner Endowment for Breast Cancer Screening. The program is working with local African-American churches to bring UTMB Health's mobile mammography unit directly to events and locations within the community and to provide free screening mammograms for uninsured women in the community. UTMB Health professionals, like Family Medicine's own Tricia Elliott, MD and Angelica Robinson, MD of UTMB Health Department of Radiology, are on hand to perform the screenings and provide information and health care advice.

The goal of the program is to reduce the number of uninsured African American women in Galveston County who are unable to have regular screening mammograms. For more information about the program, please contact the radiology department.

Tricia Elliott, MD, FAAFP sees patients Monday through Friday at the Family Medicine Clinic - Island East University Hospital Clinics Building, 1005 Harborside Drive, in Galveston, Texas. To make an appointment with her, please call (409) 772-2166 or after hours, (409) 772-2222.
