Please join us on Saturday, January 14 from 6-9 pm for ArtWalk at the Galveston Seafarers Center (221 20th St, Galveston, TX 77550). On display are photographs taken by local fishermen through our Health Equity Lab’s PhotoVoice Project, which is a community-based participatory research method that centers the experiences and voices of participants. The migrant fishermen were given cameras while they were at sea, and then returned them and gave explanations of what the photos meant to them. We will be showcasing the photos, as well as discussing their experiences and ways to increase health equity for our local community. Funding for the project provided by CDC NIOSH and the SW Ag Center.
