Winfred T. Frazier, MD, MPH, FAAFP
Assistant Professor, Assistant Director, Residency Program, and Medical Director, Family Medicine Clinic – Island East
Dr. Frazier joined UTMB’s Department of Family Medicine in 2017. He
currently serves as Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Assistant
Program Director of the UTMB Health Family Medicine Residency Program, and is the Medical Director for Family Medicine Clinic – Island East.
Dr. Frazier earned his Bachelors of Science in Biology and Psychology
from the University of Houston and his Doctor of Medicine from Baylor
College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his residency in family
medicine at University of Illinois at Chicago / Illinois Masonic
Hospital. Immediately following residency, he worked at a Federally
Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in the South Side of Chicago for a year
and then worked in Washington State, Hawaii and California as a locum
tenens physicians for two years.
Dr. Frazier most recently completed a Master of Public Health from
the University of Pittsburgh with a focus in Health Policy and
Management. He also completed a three-year faculty development
fellowship at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital. He also competed a two-year
post-doc as part of a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) National Research Service Award (NRSA) T32 Primary Care Research Training Program focusing on opioid mortality in the Pennsylvania Medicaid population.
Dr. Frazier is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine
and his professional/research interests include the integration of
public health and family medicine, interprofessional education, and
pharmaceutical and health policy.
