Walker\, M.D.\n\n\n \n\n\nThrough a collaboration between Galveston Arts Center and the Depart ment of Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston ( UTMB) the exhibition \;Visual Pathology \;aims to explore and shed light on the relationship between the visual and the pathological. UTMB&r squo\;s museums of anatomy and pathology were founded in 1891 with the ope ning of the medical department of the University of Texas. Collectively\, the museums helped UTMB gain a national reputation for excellence in pract ical medical education. By the 1950s\, like many other medical museums acr oss the United States and Europe\, UTMB&rsquo\;s museums were dismantled\, due to complex changes in the medical curriculum.\nIn collaboration with six pathologists from UTMB\, five artists were given access to the remnant s of UTMB&rsquo\;s historical pathological and surgical pathology collecti ons as an inspirational starting point. Both artists and pathologists work ed in teams to consider the history of the collection and present research undertaken at UTMB. The resulting exhibition explores the intersections b etween pathological and creative practices.\nThis project was generously f unded by the L.
