Our Program History The Residency Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) was established in 1971. The Residency Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. It is a three-year program that allows graduates to sit for board certification by the American Board of Family Practice. Eight positions are offered each year. Class Size UTMB FMR has been an 8/8/8 residency for several years now. We will be recruiting for a class of eight to enter in 2008, with 2 positions in the AOA Match and 6 positions in the ACGME Match. Who We Are [Need content] Where We Go Approximately 60% of us practice in Texas. We have alumni in just about every conceivable practice setting, including primarily outpatient, "full-spectrum FM" (inpatient and outpatient, +/- OB), academic practice, urban, suburban and rural/underserved areas.
