A Personal Note from Dr. Alexander

Greetings! I was born and raised in Johnson City, TN.  I completed my undergraduate coursework at the University of South Carolina, where I majored in Psychology. I then returned home to Johnson City, earning both my MD and MBA from East Tennessee State University.

I am intrigued by Family Medicine because we, as practitioners, are trained to manage a full spectrum of patients, both in terms of age, as well as pathology. From the acute to the chronic, the newborn to the elderly, and the clinic to the hospital, we are prepared to apply our abilities in diverse, and often unique ways.

I chose UTMB Family Medicine for its strong core curriculum, resident cohesiveness, and faculty support. I plan to attend a Sports Medicine fellowship following residency.  My other areas of interest include Wilderness Medicine and Global Medicine.

Coming to Galveston from east Tennessee, I have traded the mountains for the ocean. The beaches of Galveston are unlike any other, and outstanding for those who like to spend time in the water kayaking or fishing. I frequently take advantage of the short drive to Houston and all it has to offer, especially the many concerts the come through! I also enjoy powerlifting, playing guitar, and experiencing the US National Parks.
