A Personal Note from Dr. Pramanik

I grew up in Louisiana and have spent time all over, from the Himalayas to Tennessee.

At Emory, I concentrated on International Studies, South American trade relations, and became interested in how micro-political actions influence macro-political change. I was also greatly influenced by art, music, performance, and the outdoors. In India, I began to awaken to the vast diversity of lives and systems of healing that already go on all around us.

Resident View of HosptialAt UTMB, I found a common passion for renewing the practice of health care and healing. I chose this program more on a whole, composite gut feeling and instinct, than any explicit calculation. The opportunities for Integrative Medicine certainly appealed greatly to my life-long aspirations. In the outpatient setting, already we are becoming comfortable using evidence to guide patients through nutrition, botanicals, and complementary whole medical systems in tandem with standards of allopathic care. Not only is the training rigorous, but also, there is time to feel the sun, be with your loved ones, and do the things you enjoy. Can’t complain about an endless summer. The photo on the right is a view of our new Jennie Sealy Hospital via my kayak.

Every resident is an individual and I hope you that find a program where you feel relaxed and inspired, at home and at work. Be well.
