A Personal Note from Dr. Allen

I moved from California to Houston, TX when I was about ten years old and have called Texas my home ever since. I attended The University of Houston main campus for my undergraduate degree and worked hard to be accepted into The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, now the McGovern Medical School. I have worked tirelessly to become the best Family Medicine physician I can be.

During medical school I immersed myself into every field, truly appreciating the experiences and learning what came with each rotation. I found that I enjoyed working with all ages of patients from newborns to geriatrics and everyone in between, all types of ailments including acute and chronic in every system of the body and most importantly preventative care. I also became extremely interested in policy involvement and the politics of medicine while taking a medical humanities course in my fourth year of medical school. I hope to one day enter the world of medical policy to create change that will benefit patients and health providers alike

My primary goal as a physician is to give every patient under my care the best quality of life that they can achieve which is why I chose UTMB. The training offered by UTMB was exactly what I was looking for and I feel honored to be a part of this family. Every aspect of this residency fits into exactly what I wanted in terms of what patients I help, involvement in the community, learning from experienced and knowledgeable clinicians, supportive staff,  procedures and even policy involvement. I always want to care for the entire patient (their family, their mental health, life happenings, policy that affects them etc.) and that is exactly what UTMB teaches and supports.

I look forward to continuing my practice here in the state of Texas, and will most likely remain in the Greater Houston area, another reason why UTMB was an excellent choice.

Other than medicine and policy, I enjoy cooking, attending music festivals, playing and composing piano pieces and traveling!
