site. How do I contact the Predoctoral Program?
1. When is the Family Medicine Clerkship? The Family
Medicine Clerkship is a four-week clerkship during the third year. For more information, read an overview
of the clerkship and read the online syllabus.
2. Can I participate in a Family Medicine elective or program prior to the third year?
Yes. The Department of Family Medicine offers a Preceptorship in Family Medicine between the 1st and 2nd Years. Check it out on
our Courses page.
3. I think I want to be a Family Practice physician. Is there a student group I can join?
Yes. We sponsor a Family Practice Student Association.
4. What Family
Medicine electives or selectives are being offered?
See our Courses page for a description of
Family Medicine electives. For international programs, we recommend you also look at the Center for Training in International Health.
5. How do I reserve a laptop for the
Family Medicine 3rd Year Clerkship next period?
Log in to the Online Clerkship and go to the assignments page. Once you have been assigned to a site, you will be able to request a laptop. Refer to the clerkship syllabus for more information about availability, etc.
6. Can Family Medicine help me get dial-up
internet access while on the 3rd Year Clerkship?
Yes. Email or call the Predoctoral Office. We are committed to helping students succeed while on
the Family Medicine Clerkship.
7. Where is the Clinical Competence Exam?
The Clinical Competence Exam is administered in the Standardized Patient
Facility, located in the Graves Building. See the Directions

8. Where is the Family Medicine Predoctoral
Education Office located?
The Predoctoral Education Office is located on the 2nd floor of the Primary
Care Pavilion. See the Directions to
