Message from the Chairman
We are pleased to announce that we will be opening the Dickinson Family Health Clinic on October 1, 2009!
Dickinson Family Health will offer comprehensive treatment of adults and children. We will provide team-based managed of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart disease, respiratory conditions as well as acute illnesses such as colds, infections and minor injuries (cuts and sprains). We will also offer well-woman exams, childhood immunizations, occupational and school physicals, and behavioral counseling and psychotherapy.
In the year since Hurricane Ike devastated our area, we have made great strides toward recovery. Our practices are in three locations, two on Galveston Island and one in Dickinson. Our Family Medicine Clinic has moved from the Primary Care Pavilion to the University Hospital Clinics building on the fourth floor, and Stewart Road Family Health has reopened and expanded its services.
We have welcomed a new class of medical students to the university, and our faculty continues to teach students in all four years of medical school. Our residency program welcomed four new residents in July, and continues to train physicians and prepare them for successful careers as family physicians.
Our research projects have resumed, and we have been awarded additional funding to support our research program.
Thanks to all for your patience and support during our recovery.
