The Department of Family Medicine is pleased to announce that Victor Sierpina, MD, Karen Welch, MD, and Julie McKee, MD published "What competencies should medical students attain in nutritional medicine?" in the March/April issue of Explore. The article examines the gap between the current state of nutrition education in medical school curricula and the dietary knowledge needed for comprehensive patient care, and proposes a new set of competencies that medical students should attain.
The article was co-written with a team of educators, researchers, and students that includes Stephen Devries, MD, David Esinberg, MD, Lyuba Levine, MD, MMsci, Mauli Dalal, BS, Paul Mendoza, BBA, AAS, Jean Gutierrez, PhD, RD, Shay Robertson, MS, RD, LD, and Drusilla Rosales, MS, RD, CLEC.
